The directors of Félix Solís Avantis perceived the logistic and commercial possibilities of setting up a bottling plant and winery in China at the beginning of the nineties, much before the so-called “Asian giant” became the main topic of conversation of all and even before the company expanded to other areas of national production in the north of Spain.
As a result, they decided to create a joint venture with local partners based in Shanghai. The company was incorporated in April 1998 and its activity began on 24 November 1998 with an initial investment of 800 million pesetas. And this is how Félix Solís Avantis became one of the first Spanish companies to set up in China. Other companies embarked on similar adventures but they were discontinued.

Today, the bottling plant and winery, which can store up to 1.2 million litres, employs a total of thirty Chinese workers including the plant manager. The technicians and engineers of Félix Solís Avantis trained the specialised staff which work in the facilities although at first expatriate Spanish workers were employed.
The winery at Pagos del Rey DOC Rioja is located in one of the most prestigious towns of the most important DO in Spain and produces our main international brand. Its design is outstanding for the enormous chimneys and the steel space frame roof.
Furthermore, the cellar used for ageing the wines is particularly spectacular, with its structure based on laminated wooden beams and its striking frieze made of fir wood.
The first harvest of this winery took place in 2006, when 5.5 million kilos of grapes were collected
