An area with a strong winemaking tradition, 2,600 hours of sunshine, superb soils, and an extreme climate, all come together to produce great wines with a deep colour and a higher alcohol level (due to the limited rainfall, aridity and limited yield per stock). The alcohol level for red wines can reach 15% ABV.
The aging process for crianza wines is at least two years, with a minimum of 6 months in the barrel. The reserva wines must be aged for at least three years, of which at least 12 months must be in the barrel. Gran reserva wines have to undergo an aging process for at least five years, with a minimum of 24 months in the barrel.
GENERALLY SPEAKING, OUR WINES PRESENT THE FOLLOWING COMMON CHARACTERISTICS:
Our WHITE WINES: The main variety in DO Toro is the Malvasía, although another variety is the Verdejo. The white wines are pale yellow in colour with green tones. Green fruits, apple, pineapple and honey aromas on the nose. Silky and fresh on the palate, they have a characteristically good attack on the finish. The alcohol content ranges from 11 to 13%.
Our ROSÉS: They are made exclusively from Tinta de Toro. Strawberry pink in colour, with purplish tones. On the nose, it displays aromas of strawberries and cherries. Fruity and fleshy on the palate, with a good structure and well balanced acidity.
Our YOUNG RED WINES: Cherry red colour, with violet tones. On the nose there are ripe red fruit aromas, such us mulberries, redcurrants, etc. Powerful on the palate, with sweet tannins, and a long finish.
Our ROBLE RED WINES: Deep red in color, with violet tones. Aromas of compote of red fruits and hints of sweet spices. Powerful, dense and fruity on the palate.
Our CRIANZAS: Intense cherry colour which shows itself garnet at the rim. Aromas of vanilla, coffee milk, liquorice, etc. Well balanced on the palate, with a long finish and notes of spices.
Our RESERVAS: Ruby red in colour, with maroon tones and aromas of wood and leather. Polished tannins and smooth on the palate; it is a very soothing wine.
Our GRANDES RESERVAS: Cherry red in colour with bright highlights. On the nose they display aromas of coco and liquorice. Powerful and silky on the palate, with a long finish and spicy notes.
